The Tiwa Savage/Teebillz Debacle – Austin Atakpu

Thursday, 28 April 2016 will forever remain in the memory of fans and lovers of the Nigerian entertainment industry as the day the biggest (yes! Biggest) marital scandal in the Nigerian entertainment industry shook the airways.

TeeBillz, the estranged husband of the superstar & family breadwinner Tiwa Savage would probably be locking his wounds at this moment because he pushed on the ‘self-destruct’ button. We may all have our opinions on what he should have done or what he shouldn’t have done, but truth be told, TeeBillz was emotionally unstable as at the time of  he made those instagram posts. Let’s run through the events step by step

WHAT COULD PROBABLY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RANTS?
It’s stange seeing an adult Nigerian being overcome by emotions to the point where he had to go public, really? TeeBillz? Certain factors would have pushed him. I think he was just an attention seeker who didn’t care about the lengths he went to get the attention he desired or who he brushed along the way side, otherwise, what was with the public suicide attempt? How did Banky and Peter Okoye know exactly where to find him? He would have quietly killed himself at home, simple!

HIS ACCUSATIONS
Firstly, TeeBillz sent a message to the world as a man of excuses, a guy that wouldn’t take responsibilities for his failure, a guy that doesn’t care about ‘ the bro code’, a guy that absolutely lacks respect (call my mother a witch and I promise, those would be your last words). I’m going to focus on few of his accusations, did Tiwa Savage sleep with those people mentioned? Before Tiwa’s ‘pre-meditated’ video, the world called her a cheat and believed she slept with those men, but after the video, everyone turned on TeeBillz (I wonder why he hasn’t made his own video, lol). Personally, I think Tiwa slept with those men (well, no one cares about this no more because she has turned on TeeBillz), listen to her video, she said ‘I have never CHEATED ON MY HUSBAND’, smart girl. She more than likely slept with them before marriage to TeeBillz and of course, the impression is ‘he doesn’t have a right to complain about that, afterall they weren’t married at the time’. It’s not easy seeing your wife working with the same people you know she slept with, not easy at all.TeeBillz was sleeping with her as her manager and presumably Don Jazzy was doing same, why is he hurt? That’s life!

Now, to the ‘I made you’ comment. Tiwa was an investment to TeeBillz (all ‘good’ managers do this) and she was also satisfying his sexual needs, it’s a case of a boyfriend fending for his girlfriend, so I really don’t know what he’s talking about there, he’s lucky to have made her and even married her that it wasn’t a case of ‘monkey work, baboon chop’. TeeBillz struck me as an egocentric with this singular statement!

TIWA’S VIDEO
First of all, let me say this, I never expected Tiwa to reply, at least not so soon or if she had to, she probably should have made the ‘private matter, give us privacy as we handle this’ statement. She went full blast and Nigerians, so blind to see the ploy are taking her words as her bond. Were you expecting her to come out and admit to cheating (how many of your girlfriend’s have you caught cheating red-handed have admitted to it?) or to confirm that all TeeBillz said was true? It was a case of ‘you shot at me with a pistol, now I’m him repay the favour with a bazooka’. That interview was witty, devious and wrong! She appealed to the sympathy of the world with her looks, the doctored questions (obviously the questionns were, as Azuka was no where near her usual deep probing and manipulating self), cried when it wasn’t nevessary and answered questions she wasn’t even asked. I’m sorry but this interview puts Tiwa in the same category of baby-brained stars Davido, Wizkid and whoever (shoot me if you dare). Tiwa: cocaine, edible catering, 45 million, pampers? Who ask you? What did you expect when you married a stud wearing, barber obsessed and Edible Catering possessed divorcee? The more I look at this fracas, the more I adore Tubaba, no one has suffered more in the hands of the media than this guy but he has stayed cool, made jokes out of them or even made music with the slander (enter the place, make we see if you no go carry belle too)

THE AFTERMATH:
I think this is going to have lots and lots of consequences. Firstly, TeeBillz is completely finished. Except of course friends like Banky W (the only friend that didn’t sleep with his wife according to his infamous IG posts) and Edible Catering  (that he chilled with and nothing happened but she knocked him out with her cooking throughout the night) decide to give him jobs AT THEIR OWN RISK. His marriage is over as the people that would probably have talked Tiwa back in were all fingered in his rants. His artistes are already looking for new managers (CDQ already distanced himself from him saying ‘Na God be my oga’). I saw some comments saying Tiwa would be in trouble for harbouring a cocaine addict without reporting to the necessary authorities, NEWS FLASH: As the wife to the addict, under the law, Tiwa is not obliged to report or testify against him as long as they are still legally married (though they are ‘media-lly divorced), therefore she has no case to answer

THE SOCIAL MEDIA RESPONSE
First of all, Freeze, really? At 40, you still make this silly mistake, hearing from one side and showing sympathy, then hearing from the other side and then showing more sympathy without making the first person you showed sympathy feel bad because that’s where your allegiance lies. The sooner you realise that there are three sides to a story, your side, my side and the truth, the better for everyone, meanwhile, I wonder what criteria you used in naming TeeBillz the ‘most wonderful person’, Baba calm down oh. Tubaba as expectedly said all we expected, ‘he’s still sitting on the fence’ and Kate Henshaw, wow! TeeBillz got what he deserved? since when did two wrongs make one right? So far, we don’t know what to think anymore, let’s wait for the ensuing episode.

From a neutral point of view, we don’t want to see none of this no more, but Nigerians, brace yourselves up as this is just the beginning even as you pray for the family especially JamJam
