Today, I just sat back and thought of the bane causing the much increasing unemployment rate in this country. As each year passes, the country becomes more torn apart, losing our vibrant youth to restiveness and dark work of crime.
After much hours of thinking,I was able to conclude that the cause of our problems is our elders.
Its common knowledge that when a motor part is worn out,it should be replaced with newly yparts for perfect functioning.
All sectors in Nigeria has one or more old men or women who are weak and with degraded brainworth but still defy the natural workings of the system for the young or youths to replace the old by sitting unalloyedlly put in service by virtue of past glories and experience.Ironically, they are paid even more as they get older with nothing to offer the system than a crawling, dwindling or even stagnant development.
The greatest insanity is when many of these people are due for retirement, they still held back to serve and they persist in office or the system on contract basis.in essence, they are paid their gratuity and still receive salaries in different guise.
When new opportunities abound,it is still these retired elders that always find themselves appointment under the guise of only retired but not tired.they chant this slogan amazingly at the cost of the youths future.what a shame!!!
For goodness sake,we have large number of graduates from various universities with great intellect and ready to give their best and ability to serve.
No doubt, one of these elders' salary will conveniently accommodate the payment of 20 fresh graduates.Imagine if 100 of such people retires,by simple arithmetic,2,000 graduates will gain employment and I believe each sector will boom more.
You can't believe the fact and Its so sad that these set of elders still asks for increase in retirement age.The "bench" in our judiciary as well as the academicians in our Universities are already enjoying this sad turn of event.
Referencing from one of my recent write-up.
"The most rampant encouragement word used by Teachers and parents when we were young is, "O'Little kids" put more effort.Remember, you are the leaders of tomorrow.it however still baffles me that we have over-aged people who had been in the system since independence(Age of Stone). We shouldn't expect much from these people than a crawling economy as we have now because,Undoubtedly,we are in the Technology Age.how could they meet up with the current revolutionary changes when all they had come across during their learning age is back-dated"
I stand to be corrected, but nearly all those who served during the early years of independence are within the age bracket of 24-35 and we had such a good standard of living even without crude-oil.I'm very right to say that, they were able to utilise their young ability to serve.
My dear brothers and sisters without been immodest I stand firm to say our old and most referred elders are best fitted to rest and eat from their long service.
I believe if this issue is looked into,it shall not only be a panacea for unemployment but also bring about growth in the economy.
My humble view.....Open to criticism
